Scope of Work: New construction of an accessory dwelling unit adjacent to existing single family home.

Project Narrative: Ryder Design created this ADU on the site of an existing garage, negotiating the complicated hillside by introducing retaining walls and terraces that both connect the unit to the main but also establish privacy for the new dwelling.

The contemporary unit features a full kitchen and a large living room which opens onto the pool terrace below.

The bedroom on the upper level has access to a private work out terrace with skylights. The unit’s rich textures, dark color palette and mix of materials of stained wood, venetian plaster and dark metals complement the large glass openings that let in natural sunlight and offer views to the valley beyond.
